United Heritage Director Julie E. Prafke, who is the founder and President of Humanix Corporation in Spokane, Washington, was recently awarded the NAWBO/Verizon Woman Business Owner of the Year award by the National Association of Women Business Owners and Verizon. The award recognizes the accomplishments of one outstanding woman entrepreneur, who has used creative initiatives to overcome obstacles, create jobs, grow a successful business, and help her community.
Ms. Prafke founded Humanix, a staffing service, in 1986. By 1992, Humanix became the leader in the Spokane, Washington, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, staffing markets, a position which it has held since that time. Humanix Corp. consists of several divisions, including: Humanix Personnel Services, which provides staffing, screening, and employee evaluation services; Humanix Insurance Education Center, which provides insurance and securities pre-licensing education; Humanix Payroll Solutions, providing payroll support; and Promanix, which provides professional recruiting services.
Ms. Prafke has received several prior local and regional awards for her work with Humanix and in the Spokane community, but this is her first national award. Ms. Prafke has been a member of the United Heritage Board of Directors since 1995, and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board’s Compensation Committee. Ms. Prafke is also currently the Chairperson for the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce.
